Arvest Kicks Off Fifth Year of Fighting Hunger
FORT SMITH, AR, (Aug 26, 2015) — Arvest Bank’s 1 Million Meals initiative challenges bank associates, customers and community members to participate in fundraising efforts and nonperishable food drives to fight hunger in the more than 120 communities the bank serves. The initiative is needed, as 49 million individuals, including 16 million children, are identified as food insecure. 1
Arvest Bank kicks off the two-month, bank-wide effort to provide at least one million meals to local, hungry families on Sept. 2nd and will continue through Oct. 31st. The initiative will conclude just before Thanksgiving, when donations are presented to 59 local organizations who feed the hungry in their communities.
The official kick off for the initiative is September 2nd at all Arvest Bank branches. On September 10th starting at 2:00pm Arvest Bank in Fort Smith and Smith Chevrolet are partnering with The Pack Shack to Feed the Funnel at the Smith Chevrolet showroom located at 6500 Autopark Dr in Fort Smith. Arvest and Smith Chevrolet’s associates will be striving to pack 10,000 nutritious meals in one hour. These meals consist of rice, soy protein, dehydrated vegetables, and 21 vitamins and minerals. The meals will be distributed directly from the Feed the Funnel party to Community Services Clearinghouse and River Valley Regional Food Bank, Arvest Bank’s local food partners for the 1 Million Meals initiative. During the Feed the Funnel party a check will be presented to Community Services Clearinghouse and River Valley Regional Food Bank. The media is invited to attend this event and participate.
